Years ago, when I read about a company which created a robot pet dog as a companion, I laughed. I thought why didn’t this company think of a better use of a robot? Apparently, it didn’t take long before someone heard me and created the Irobot 532 vacuum. So when I first discovered about its use, I said, “This is what I’m talking about!”

My apartment is slightly more than 1,300 square feet and to some, cleaning it should not be a big deal. But not when you work long hours and just want to wind down with friends or family over the weekends without worrying about cleaning the mess in the house thereafter.

After years of cleaning the apartment myself (yes, being meticulous about cleanliness, I also worked my way around tight corners of the house), I decided enough is enough. I already work hard on weekdays, why should I slog over the weekends at the expense of catching up with those I care about? I’m not the robot but the Irobot 532 Vacuum is. In fact, it is made just for that.

I wanted something that can clean efficiently so I figured that if this vacuum is designed based on the minesweeping equipment technology, then it can’t be that bad. Well, I couldn’t be more right (believe me, this doesn’t happen that often).

What the Irobot 532 Vacuum Did in My Apartment

When I first put it to work, I watched it like an eagle. You know what, I was amazed that this little machine could suck up the tiniest dust and make its way round my tables, chairs, cabinets, bookshelves with such efficiency and near silence. To think that it got itself through my low-lying furniture – beyond words! I believe that is the beauty of this machine – it comes with a unique programming software which allows me to clearly define the walls within my rooms.

Limitations I Found With This Robot

I found this by accident – really. Thinking back I laughed at myself. You see, my sister called one day and said she would be arriving at my place in about half an hour. Out to impress her with my robot vacuum, I put the machine to work. I mistakenly thought that it could swipe my whole place clean in 30 minutes. Well, when my sister came, the house was only half-cleaned.

So I learnt that you can leave the vacuum in its charger dock and use it as and when you need it. But unfortunately, it would not be realistic to expect the Irobot 532 Vacuum to do a fast job as it works best slowly and systematically.

Nevertheless, I still treasure this cleaner for the cleanliness it gives me and the work it saves me. Besides, with the following items that come with it, I couldn’t ask for more :

  • replacement type filters
  • rising and lowering vacuuming discs
  • cleaning tools
  • virtual type wall mounts
