It is completely acceptable if you’re contemplating between the Tassimo and Keurig given that these two are notably, amongst the most popular brands when it comes to single-serve coffee makers.
Looking at each brand alone, there are a number of models to consider before you finally decide on one.

Tassimo vs Keurig – The Machines
1. Hot Beverages
The range of beverages you can get from a Tassimo coffee maker as compared to the Keurig present as the first difference between these two brands of machines.
Using its T-Discs, Tassimo coffee makers provide you a selection of about 40 varieties of hot beverages comprising coffee, tea, hot chocolate, espresso, cappuccinos and lattes.
Keurig coffee machines, on the other hand, use K-Cups to make coffee, tea and hot chocolate. Collectively, there are some 200 flavors of these three types of drinks.
No options for cappuccinos nor lattes are currently available in the K-Cups although Keurig claims that they are working on this.
There is not much difference in the way that T-Discs and K-Cups are used to make hot beverages. However, the Tassimo makes use of its bar code technology on the T-Discs to control the amount of water to be used, the temperature of that water as well as the timing of the brewing cycle.
This ‘intelligent’ reading results in a more concentrated (strong) coffee as well as the ability to make cappuccinos and lattes, although an extra step is involved, as you need to use the espresso followed by the cappuccino or latte T-Discs.
2. Costs – T-Discs and K-Cups
T-Discs are about $0.56 per cup while the K-Cups are slightly cheaper at about $0.40 per cup. For online purchases:
3. Operationally …
Most users in both Tassimo and Keurig camps would agree that their machines are hassle-free to use.
There is just a slight difference in time to make a cuppa in Tassimo as compared to making it in the Keurig, owing to the time needed to heat up water and filtering the coffee.
It takes about one minute to prepare a cup of coffee in Keurig against the approximate two minutes taken by Tassimo.
To us, this difference in time is not really significant and suggest that you consider the following factors instead if you are plagued by the Tassimo vs Keurig dilemma :
- Are you just looking to drink or serve your family/guests coffee, tea and hot chocolate or do you also want to include espresso, cappuccino and latte in this selection?
- Do you prefer your coffee ‘strong’? Most such coffee drinkers opt for Tassimo as they claim that coffee made in Keurig machines does not live up to their expectations even when they use the recommended bold or extra bold blend of coffee.
- Are you a fan of Starbucks coffee? If you are, you might think about getting Keurig as Starbucks is no longer producing T-Discs as it’s been licensed to produce K-Cups instead.
The last thing you should worry about is whether the Tassimo or the Keurig will fit well in your kitchen.
We honestly feel that both produce models which are not only aesthetically pleasing but also easy to clean. Finally,we hope the above information is helpful in helping you decide on the coffee maker to suit your needs!
